My Top 10 List

Well, I am about to embark on a brand new job in Korea with very different Kringlish kids, so I thought I would do a retrospective on my favorite craziness of my old job. Let's jump right in...


10) Samuel’s Souvenir
It's easy to forget Samuel is still just a little kid even with his blood fetish and constant crotch grabbing (FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!), but sometimes he surprises you. Oh don't get me wrong, I am sure he will grow up to be some sort of violent criminal or a pro gamer, but he can also be very sweet and/or sensitive in short sporadic windows.

9) High Fashion
I am not exaggerating when I say each of my husky male students has this hoodie. There must not be a lot of options for bigger kids. You’d think they’d get men’s clothing, but then again, they have no idea what they’re wearing.

8) Any Questions (ABOUT THE READING!!!!!)I still don’t know how to respond to this one. I’m not sure if it’s that plastic surgery is so commonplace over there or if it’s because I’m so freaking fugly. Most likely a combination of both.

7) A Trip to Mars
Ah, Joon to the Sung. I'll probably miss him most of all. He's very bright, kind, and funny. I hope he learns to manage his anxiety, though. Anyway, here’s the cute little story he came up with on his first draft.

6) Skinny Jeans
I am going to have some sort of freakish Pavilion response whenever I hear the phrase fire in the hole, aren’t I? I still don’t understand how Koreans fit into those jeans.

5) Kringlish Boss #2
I guess you can tell what his signature noribang song is. And he still doesn’t understand it!

4) Amendment #2: 10 Reasons Why We Need a Faculty and a Student Bathroom at my SchoolAh, the incident that launched Scantrongate! I wish those toilets flushed a little better so I didn’t stumble upon Joon to the Sung’s toilet bowl of shame.
