Korean Mothers

Wow.  I did some picture writing with my second graders (aka 11th graders).  They had to describe the picture using two similes. 

I don't know where my student came up with these similes.  It's just a magpie on a fence...

The bird looks lonely like a man who is sitting on a bench solely in a park.  And the fence on which he is sitting looks quite useless like the bird's mother.  For that bird, mom has never been supportive or friendly.

One of the other foreign teachers warned me I'd be getting a lot of stuff like this from my students.

  2. My favourite ever student generated sentence is the grammatically perfect 'Istanbul is the fastest car in New York.'
